Square Enix ha anunciado hace algunos días, que su MOBA de acción titulado “Lord of Vermilion Arena” será cerrado muy pronto.  “Lord of Vermilion Arena” entro en beta abierta en junio del año pasado y tristemente se convierte en el segundo título, en desaparecer de la lista de juegos online ofrecidos por Square Enix en lo que va de este año 2016.  Ya que hace muy poco otro grandísimo juego llamado “Gunslinger Stratos Reloaded, cerró su servicio el día 29 de marzo.

Los videojuegos de rol multijugador masivos en línea o MMORPG (sigla en inglés de massively multiplayer online role-playing game), son videojuegos de rol que permiten a miles de jugadores introducirse en un mundo virtual de forma simultánea a través de internet e interactuar entre ellos. Consisten, en un primer momento, en la creación de un personaje, del que el jugador puede elegir raza, profesión, armas, etc. Una vez creado el personaje el jugador puede introducirlo en el juego e ir aumentando niveles y experiencia en peleas PvP (Personaje contra personaje) o PvE (Personaje contra Entorno) o realizando diversas aventuras o misiones, habitualmente llamadas quests (literalmente: «búsquedas» en inglés).

Este género de videojuegos difiere de un juego de rol en línea multijugador no masivo en que estos últimos tienen un número limitado de jugadores, es decir, los MMORPG admiten cierta cantidad de jugadores simultáneos dependiendo de características del juego (como tamaño de mapa y jugabilidad) y la capacidad del servidor.

Lord of Vermillion is being spun off into a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game called Lord of Vermilion Arena for PC. This game has 7 vs. 7 fights where players and enemies can summon monsters. Maps also have fodder monsters for players to defeat so they can level up. Players will be able to create a deck with monsters to summon with five tribes including beasts, demon kind, and the undead. Avatars are also customizable with different weapons and armor.

Lord of Vermilion (ロード・オブ・ヴァーミリオン Rōdo obu Vāmirion) is an arcade-based fantasy collectible card game developed by Think Garage and distributed by Square Enix in which players control combat cards on an arcade play surface. The objective of the game is to destroy the enemy team's Arcane Stones and eliminate their servants in order to win the game. Players design and develop avatars, increasing their statistics and obtaining equipment, then compete with each other locally, or online, or play the single player story mode.

As of November 7, 2008, Lord of Vermilion has contributed over ¥4 billion in earnings for Square Enix. A sequel, Lord of Vermilion II, was released in Japan on October 27, 2009, and was followed up by Lord of Vermilion Re:2 on July 26, 2011. The sequels prominently featured collaborations with a number of other franchises and game series, including the Final Fantasy, Romancing SaGa, Magic: The Gathering, The King of Fighters, Touhou and BlazBlue. It has also spawned a spinoff franchise of action RPG titles for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita, including Lord of Arcana and Lord of Apocalypse.

Another sequel, Lord of Vermilion III, was released on August 22, 2013. A free-to-play third person action multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), Lord of Vermilion Arena, was officially launched on June 17, 2015.
